The latter half of the ride is through a depressed area with many vacant lots. There is hope and resilience in the form of urban farming and gardening as well as rehabbed housing and new construction. Friendly people.

There via Woodland (downhill, almost too much fun), back via Quincy, a more gradual climb with a steep walk up Mt Overlook behind the water plant. Change in elevation almost 500 feet each way.

I rode to my 1st job at Heights High on Cedar near Lee, then to Noble Elementary, then home. The change in elevation surprised me: > 200 feet within the Heights!
